Zurich International School (commonly known as ZIS), located in Wädenswil, Switzerland, is a coeducational day school providing a comprehensive education from early childhood through high school. A key distinction of ZIS is its dual academic framework, uniquely offering students the choice between both the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme and American Advanced Placement (AP) courses. This versatile pathway allows families to tailor a rigorous, globally recognized curriculum that best aligns with their child's individual strengths and higher-education goals.

## What teachers and parents say

### Positives

- **Flexible academic pathways**: Strong praise from parents for offering both the International Baccalaureate (IB) and US Advanced Placement (AP) programs, which facilitates global university admissions.
- **Welcoming expat community**: Widely appreciated by relocating families and teachers for its supportive, inclusive atmosphere, positive reinforcement culture, and ease of student transition.
- **Excellent facilities and extracurriculars**: Commended for modern, purpose-built campus facilities and a broad range of well-funded arts, STEM, and sports offerings.

### Negatives

- **Exorbitant tuition and ancillary costs**: Frequently cited by parents as exceptionally expensive, with high added costs for mandatory laptops, meals, buses, and school excursions.
- **'Expat bubble' with limited local integration**: Noted for creating an English-centric social bubble that makes German language fluency and integration into local Swiss culture difficult.
